What Happens When Pro Is Canceled?

What you’ll learn

Hi there! In this article, we’re going to cover:

Ready? Let’s dive in.

When will my Pro Plan be canceled?

Deskfirst Pro will be canceled on any of the following cases:

  1. You are the user who purchased your own Pro license, and you canceled your subscription. This will downgrade you to the Starter Plan at the end of the billing cycle.

If you purchase a Pro license again before your billing cycle ends, all the implications in the following sections will be prevented.

  2. You were assigned a Pro license as a member of a Team, and you were removed or opted out of it. These will revoke your Pro license and will downgrade you to the Starter Plan immediately.

What happens when I’m downgraded from Pro to Starter?

Your web desktops and files will be scheduled for deletion and you’ll have a 30-day grace period.

Whether you’ve canceled your own license, or your license was canceled as part of leaving a Team, no worries! You have 30 days to change your mind! Here are the technical details you need to know…

All web desktops – including files – in your account will be deleted after 30 days of being downgraded to the Starter Plan, in a way that cannot be recovered, even to the Deskfirst Team.

The only web desktop that will not be deleted after 30 days, is the free web desktop – on condition that you didn’t reallocate its storage while having a Pro license.

You will have a free web desktop only if you signed up for a free Deskfirst account first and then you were upgraded to Pro by being added to a Team. If you signed up through an invitation to a Team you received by email, or you upgraded to Pro by purchasing your own license, you will not have free web desktops.

If you reallocated storage in your free web desktop, it will be considered a Pro desktop and it'll be deleted as well. In this case, all of your web desktops will be scheduled for deletion, and a new free web desktop will be created in your account.

If you upgrade back to a Pro license after downgrading or being downgraded to the free plan – whether by purchasing a Pro license yourself or by being invited to a Team – during the 30-day grace period, no web desktops will be deleted!

The files you have on your web desktops are important! It’s highly recommended that you back up all of them during the 30-day grace period. Deleted files cannot be recovered even by the Deskfirst Team!

You won’t have the Editor and Manager access permissions on shared web desktops until you upgrade to Pro again.

On every web desktop that was shared with you with the Editor or Manager access permissions, you’ll become a Viewer.

The original access permission you had on every web desktop that was shared with you will be retained, so in case you upgrade to a Pro license again and the Owner of the web desktop didn’t change your original access permission, you’ll be able to immediately enjoy the permission you had before becoming a Viewer.
