Resetting and Deleting Web Desktops

What you’ll learn

Hi there! In this article, we’re going to cover:

Ready? Let’s dive in.

Resetting and deleting web desktops are irreversible actions, even to the Deskfirst team! Proceed with caution and always back up the files before proceeding with any of these actions.

Prerequisites

  1. To delete a default web desktop, you need to first set a new default desktop (learn more about Setting a New Default Web Desktop).
  2. To delete or reset a web desktop, you must be its Owner (learn more about Access Permissions).

Reset a web desktop

Resetting a web desktop will permanently delete all of its stored files, shortcuts, sticky notes, and custom branding.

When you reset a web desktop, you’ll also have the option to choose whether you want to reset its sharing settings – invited users and generated public viewer links. This means that if you choose not to reset the sharing settings, users that have been invited to the web desktop and people with links will still be able to access it.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Click on the Quick Actions button on the top menu.
  2. Click on Reset Desktop.
  3. Optional – if you’d like to reset the web desktop’s sharing settings, check the Reset also desktop's sharing settings box.
  4. Enter in the Desktop Name field its exact name as it’s written in the Desktop Manager.
  5. To approve the final reset of the web desktop, click Yes, Reset.
  6. A popup will appear confirming that the web desktop has been reset successfully. Click OK.
